Seongnam proposes public housing project for Dalkjukchon area
The city of Seongnam has proposed a public housing project in the Dalkjukchon area of Sujeong district, South Korea.
The proposed site covers about 17,000 square metres near Sanseong Station on subway Line 8.
Seongnam says new homes could help accommodate people displaced by redevelopment in the city’s old downtown and renovation of ageing planned districts in Bundang.
The area has nearby schools, parks and public transport, which the city says could support housing there.
Dalkjukchon moved to its current location in 1997, and local businesses have sought development as trade has remained weak since the COVID-19 pandemic.
The land ministry has not yet approved the proposal; Seongnam has asked it to designate the site as a public housing candidate and wants the Korea Land and Housing Corporation to carry out the project.
