Samsung says up to 75 trillion won remains for shareholder returns

Samsung Electronics says 55 trillion to 75 trillion won remains for shareholder returns this year.

The South Korean company gave the figure during a call about its third-quarter results on October 29.

It excludes returns already made and a cash dividend approved by the board that day.

Much of the remaining money is expected to go to buying back and cancelling shares.

Samsung said it is discussing a new shareholder-return policy for next year and beyond.

It also said it would consider increasing the share of preferred shares in future buybacks, taking market conditions into account.

The plans matter to investors because they could affect how Samsung returns money to shareholders and which shares it buys.
