Sheinbaum and Chihuahua governor acknowledge tense meeting

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said she and Chihuahua Governor Maru Campos raised their voices during a private meeting.

The dispute followed the participation of CIA agents in a Chihuahua operation, which led Sheinbaum to accuse state authorities of allowing foreign agents to take part.

Campos reportedly told Sheinbaum that former state prosecutor César Jáuregui was corrupt and owned casinos.

Sheinbaum urged Campos to file formal complaints about the alleged wrongdoing.

Campos said the prosecutor, not her, was responsible for the agents’ participation, and also raised allegations against Morena leader Adriana Montiel; Sheinbaum asked her to provide evidence.

Sheinbaum said future dealings would be institutional between the two governments, while both women denied making a pact and the allegations are part of a judicial process in Chihuahua.
