Anthony Black and Magic unlikely to agree on extension by deadline

Anthony Black and the Orlando Magic are not expected to agree on a contract extension by October 19.

Black is a guard for the Magic, an NBA team, and was the sixth pick in the 2023 draft.

The two sides have not had serious talks during the offseason or since training camp began.

Orlando’s salary commitments to Desmond Bane, Jalen Suggs, Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero make negotiations more difficult.

If there is no major change, Black is expected to become a restricted free agent in the summer of 2027.

In restricted free agency, a player can negotiate with other teams, while his current team has the right to match an offer.

Black averaged 15.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 64 games last season.
