Wawrinka says he feels sadness, happiness, enjoyment and satisfaction, and plans to accept those emotions rather than fight them.
A tribute ceremony is planned for Monday, before his match the next day.
The tournament may be his last chance to play a singles match on tour, though he says he will see what happens after the match.
