Commanders Place Payne, Kinlaw and McNichols on Injured Reserve

The Washington Commanders placed three players on injured reserve: defensive linemen Daron Payne and Javon Kinlaw, and running back Jeremy McNichols.

Injured reserve means a player must miss at least four games, and Payne is out for the season with a fractured foot.

Kinlaw, who missed the team’s win over Philadelphia with a knee problem, and Payne are full-time starters, leaving the Commanders short on the defensive line.

McNichols injured his foot in that game, and this is his second injured-reserve stint this season.

To add depth at running back, Washington claimed Robert Henry Jr. off waivers from Seattle.

The Commanders are 2-4-1 and still in the NFC East race, with Rachaad White and Austin Ekeler among their healthy backs; McNichols could return later, but the team would need to use another activation from injured reserve.
