14-year-old hands himself in after Bradley Lowery photo taunt

A 14-year-old has handed himself in to police after a video appeared to show a fan using a photo to taunt Sunderland supporters during a Premier League match against Coventry City.

The video circulated on social media, and West Midlands Police have launched an investigation.

Bradley Lowery, a Sunderland fan, died aged six in 2017 from neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer.

His mother, Gemma, said the use of her son’s photograph was heartbreaking and that he should be remembered with love.

Coventry City says it does not tolerate offensive behaviour and will work with the relevant authorities.

Gemma said she does not want people to direct hatred at the boy, but hopes he learns how hurtful his actions were.

Police will speak with the boy in due course, while officers keep the family informed and work with both clubs.
