Lula plans meeting with business groups after COP31 trip

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva plans to meet business representatives after returning from COP31, which is due to begin in Antalya, Turkey, on November 9.

The meeting does not yet have a confirmed date and will include groups beyond the government’s Economic and Social Development Council.

Its main aim is to hear what businesses want from economic policy and consider their views in shaping the new government’s plans.

Business representatives are particularly concerned about lower interest rates and reduced public spending.

Some remain cautious because the government has not provided detailed economic plans or named people for key posts.

Lula is expected to meet his transition team after listening to the business groups to decide and present the policy’s details.
