Starfish smoked salmon recalled in six states over possible Listeria contamination

Krasnyi Oktyabr recalled Starfish smoked salmon because it may be contaminated with Listeria, a bacteria that can cause listeriosis.

The recall covers 8-ounce packages with lot number D080-148 of frozen, cold-smoked Norwegian salmon.

The product was distributed in New York, Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Ohio.

The possible contamination was identified by New York State’s Department of Agriculture and Markets, and no illnesses have been reported.

Listeria can cause severe illness and pregnancy loss, making the recall important even without reported cases.

Customers should not eat the salmon and should return it to the place of purchase.
