Masela LNG project targets gas production by 2030
Indonesia’s Masela gas project in Maluku aims to start production by 2030.
The project, led by Inpex, is planned to cost about $22 billion and produce liquefied natural gas, or LNG.
Its front-end engineering design, which sets out the project’s technical plans, has been completed three months ahead of the original schedule.
The project is designed to produce 1,380 million standard cubic feet of gas a day, including 100 million cubic feet for Indonesia’s domestic market.
A final investment decision is the next major step, and officials hope it will come by the end of 2026 or, at the latest, January 2027.
After that, the project can move ahead with investment arrangements, purchasing, construction and installation.
