Five Serbians named on EU most-wanted list over €40m Maastricht jewel theft

Police have named five Serbian suspects in the theft of jewels from the Tefaf art fair in Maastricht in 2022.

The group is made up of four men and one woman, all aged 41 to 50.

The stolen jewels were worth about €40 million, and the thieves have not been arrested.

Police believe the suspects may be in Niš or near Belgrade, but Serbia does not extradite suspects.

Some of the stolen diamonds have since been found in Hong Kong, Botswana and Israel.

Police hope the suspects will be arrested if they leave Serbia, and are offering €20,000 for a tip leading to an arrest.

The insurer is offering £500,000 for information that leads to the suspects’ capture.
