Robin Uthappa wants Mumbai Indians to become a force away from home

Mumbai Indians have appointed Robin Uthappa as batting coach ahead of the 2027 Indian Premier League season.

The five-time champions finished ninth among 10 teams in 2025, and Uthappa says the team must earn fans’ trust again.

He wants Mumbai to carry its strength at Wankhede Stadium into matches at every away venue.

Uthappa also plans to support domestic players with clearer guidance and closer communication.

He says young cricketers need help understanding their roles and how to improve.

Uthappa began his IPL career with Mumbai Indians in 2008, making his return as a coach a reunion with his first IPL team.

His work will focus on building confidence and stronger performances as the team prepares for IPL 2027.
