James Milner Finishes New York City Marathon on His Debut
Former footballer James Milner finished his first marathon at the New York City Marathon on Sunday.
The 40-year-old Englishman played 658 Premier League games, more than any other player in the competition’s history.
He built his marathon training around three or four runs a week, gradually increasing the distance.
His longest training run was just over 32 kilometres, short of the marathon’s 42.195 kilometres.
The race marked a new goal after his long football career, in which fitness was a major part of his reputation.
