Mumbai Indians Sign Six Uncapped Indians for WPL 2027

The Mumbai Indians signed six uncapped Indian players at the WPL 2027 auction in Kochi on October 28.

The team spent Rs 70 lakh of its Rs 90 lakh purse, with five players bought for Rs 10 lakh each and Shweta Sehrawat for Rs 20 lakh.

Mumbai had retained its core players, including captain Harmanpreet Kaur and overseas stars Hayley Matthews, Amelia Kerr and Natalie Sciver-Brunt.

The team finished outside the playoffs in WPL 2026 and used the auction to add backup options to its existing squad.

Its squad now has 18 players, including United States international Tara Norris, acquired in a trade before the auction.

WPL 2027 is scheduled to start on January 14, and Mumbai can field up to five overseas players under a rule allowing that when one is from an Associate Member team.

The likely starting XI includes Sehrawat, though the final lineup has not been confirmed.
