Solskjaer says he would manage Manchester United again as Carrick faces pressure

Michael Carrick is expected to remain Manchester United’s head coach for Tuesday’s Champions League match against Roma at Old Trafford.

United have lost 2-0 to Chelsea, have not won in nine games and sit 17th in the Premier League with seven points.

The club’s leadership decided to give Carrick more time, but his position is expected to be reviewed during the international break after the team’s next league match against Aston Villa.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who managed United until 2021 and previously had Carrick on his coaching staff, says he would accept the chance to manage United again if asked in the future.

He says he is not seeking Carrick’s job and believes Carrick can still turn the club’s fortunes around.

Solskjaer has described United as part of his family after spending 18 to 19 years at the club.

United’s next games against Roma and Aston Villa come before the review, which will help determine Carrick’s future.

Michael has what it takes to take that club forward. I think he's the right man. He understands the club, understands the fans and knows what's needed.
