Skoda recalls 77,360 more cars over faulty Takata airbags

Skoda is recalling 77,360 more cars worldwide because of potentially faulty Takata driver’s airbags.

The recall covers eight model lines, including the Fabia, Octavia and Kodiaq, built from May 2016 to December 2017.

In Germany, 7,925 vehicles are affected; the recall also covers cars elsewhere.

The problem is a defective gas generator inside the airbag, which can make it deploy with too much force in a crash.

Metal fragments could break loose and injure people inside the car.

This is an extension of a recall Skoda began in October 2025, when it recalled 138,441 vehicles built from April 2014 to June 2016.

Owners will be contacted by Germany’s vehicle authority and asked to visit a workshop, where the driver’s airbag will be replaced.
