False evacuation alerts sound at stations in three German states
On Friday afternoon, evacuation announcements told passengers to leave stations in Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland.
The warning was heard at Frankfurt Central Station and other locations, but there was no apparent danger.
The announcements were followed by an all-clear, and Deutsche Bahn apologized to passengers.
Police blamed a mistakenly pressed button, calling it human error rather than a technical fault.
Deutsche Bahn instead said a technical fault triggered the automated message.
The exact cause remained unclear, and no further action was stated.
