Cheerios adds resealable bags to some cereal boxes
Cheerios is adding resealable bags to some of its cereal boxes to make them easier to close after opening.
The new packaging, called Ziploc PantrySeal, is being introduced for original Cheerios and Honey Nut Cheerios.
It has a zipper-style closure that leaves part of the top open as a pour spout, then reseals to help keep cereal fresh.
The change follows years of consumer requests for an easier way to close cereal bags.
A December 2025 survey cited by General Mills found that 90% of cereal eaters take extra steps to preserve freshness after opening a box.
The new boxes are available exclusively at Walmart from October 27, with a wider retailer rollout expected in the coming months.
