Turkey expects interim payments after law on troubled funds

Turkey’s Economic Coordination Board met in Ankara under Vice-President Cevdet Yılmaz to discuss economic issues.

The board said work to wind up troubled funds is being coordinated by relevant institutions.

A bill intended to ensure the process is fair, transparent and legally protected has passed parliament’s Planning and Budget Commission.

It must still be discussed and enacted by parliament’s General Assembly.

Interim payments are expected to start soon after enactment, though no exact start date was given.

The board expects the developments to have limited effects on the financial system and real economy.

It also stressed the importance of measures to improve confidence in and the effectiveness of capital markets.
