Joo Young-jin leaves anchor role to lead SBS newsroom

Joo Young-jin has left his anchor role on SBS’s News Briefing in South Korea.

His final broadcast was on Oct.

30, when he thanked viewers and said he was moving on to a new responsibility.

He is now leading SBS’s news division, the broadcaster’s newsroom.

Young-jin said he would work to change SBS news and make it more trusted by viewers.

He has also said the broadcaster’s flagship 8 News still falls short of being the country’s leading news program, and that audience ratings and feedback show room for improvement.

His plans include stronger business coverage and more specialist reporters, as he works to reshape the newsroom.
