Yemen fighting intensifies after reported attack on health centre
A reported Houthi missile attack on a health centre in Lahij left 20 civilians dead or injured, according to Yemeni state media.
The attack was followed by heavier clashes between government forces and Houthi fighters near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
Local media said a commander in a government-aligned brigade was killed, but government forces have not confirmed this.
A Houthi-linked news agency said its forces repelled an advance and that the attacking forces suffered losses, without giving details.
More than 300,000 people have been displaced by rising conflict in western Yemen, many in Taiz, Lahij and Aden.
In Houthi-controlled parts of Taiz, 120 health facilities have stopped operating and 66 are partly closed, while medical supplies, fuel and oxygen are running low.
Hospitals and health centres face worsening shortages, and local health officials warn that services at more facilities could stop, while two dialysis centres are already under strain.

The escalation followed reports that a Houthi missile attack on a health centre in Lahij province killed or injured 20 civilians.
Local media reported that Ayman Askar, a commander in the Amalika 2nd Division Support Brigade, was killed in clashes near Bab al-Mandeb.
