Brock Purdy takes NFL career passer rating record

Brock Purdy now has the NFL’s highest career passer rating, after reaching the league’s eligibility threshold during the 49ers’ Monday win over Washington.

A player needs at least 1,500 pass attempts to qualify, and Purdy crossed that mark in the 23-17 victory.

His rating is 105.6, ahead of Lamar Jackson at 102.7 and Aaron Rodgers at 101.8.

Purdy has completed 1,038 of 1,524 passes for 13,145 yards, with 98 touchdowns and 39 interceptions.

The 49ers chose him with the final pick of the 2022 draft, after he came close to going undrafted.

Passer rating is a rough measure of passing efficiency, based on completions, yards, touchdowns and interceptions, and it leaves out other parts of a quarterback’s performance.

Purdy could hold the record unless his season ends poorly and a rival posts record-setting numbers.
