Guangxi launches alliance to develop its fragrant rice industry

Guangxi launched a fragrant rice industry alliance at an event in Nanning on October 24.

The alliance brings together businesses involved in the region’s rice industry, and its membership has grown to 80.

The effort builds on Guangxi’s regional rice brand, which has received national recognition and includes products with geographical indication certification.

Guangxi’s grain industry has a total industrial output value of more than 1,250 billion yuan, and more than one million tonnes of related products are sold to the Greater Bay Area each year.

The alliance aims to strengthen food security by improving coordination across the grain industry and promoting food conservation and reduced waste.

Guangxi has also introduced digital monitoring at all government grain reserve sites and is testing smart warehouse technologies.

Green storage technology has cut grain losses to 0.6%, and the event’s stated goal is to further improve the region’s food security system.
