Bitonic says hack stole small amounts of bitcoin from three customers
Attackers accessed some of Bitonic’s systems in a hack that the Dutch bitcoin broker says happened the previous evening.
Three customers had small amounts of bitcoin taken, and Bitonic says it has fully compensated them.
The company said login details for multiple accounts were changed, though it gave differing counts: one account of its statement referred to two accounts.
Other customers’ personal data may have been viewed, but Bitonic said current information did not indicate that this happened.
The company said its offline cold wallets were not affected, while the affected systems and its internet-connected hot wallet were temporarily taken offline.
Bitonic has fixed the vulnerability and restored its service, and it is investigating the technical cause and the scale of the breach.
