Italy's foreign minister says his personal data was posted on the dark web

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said cybercriminals posted his personal data on the dark web, an encrypted part of the internet.

He did not say what information was shared, but said criminals were also seeking more details about him and his family.

Tajani said the leak exposed them to threats and intimidation, and suggested the cyberthreat was continuing.

Premier Giorgia Meloni blamed pro-Russian hackers, while Tajani did not name those responsible.

The disclosure comes amid a series of hoax bomb threats, attacks on supermarket refrigeration systems and drone incursions in Europe.

Tajani said he would keep working to protect Italy, and said he would strengthen cooperation to improve security.
