Banten and Prosecutors Join Effort to Regulate Oversized, Overloaded Trucks
Banten’s government is working with provincial prosecutors to improve rules for oversized and overloaded freight trucks, known as ODOL trucks.
The partnership was formalized in an agreement signed in Serang on October 26, 2026, covering government and development work in Banten.
The goal is to give ODOL policies a sound legal basis, including rules that restrict when these trucks can operate.
Governor Andra Soni said prosecutors had already offered legal advice on operating-time limits, even though the government had not requested it.
Prosecutors will advise on needed regulations and enforcement, including how to keep measures within existing laws.
The partnership is intended to make truck rules enforceable and government decisions more orderly and accountable; no timetable for new rules was given.

What people are saying
The ODOL truck issue has long been unfinished work for us. The Banten High Prosecutor’s Office provided a legal opinion without being asked, so we could follow it up.
We provide the Governor with advice on the steps to take, what legal products need to be issued, and how enforcement can be carried out effectively and efficiently without conflicting with other laws and regulations.
