Mexico's Senate weighs meetings with health officials over medicine shortages

Mexico's Senate is considering meeting with senior health officials about problems in the country's health sector.

Senate President Higinio Martínez said senators may meet with IMSS director Zoé Robledo to discuss medicine shortages and workers' concerns about low salaries.

He also said Health Secretary David Kershenobich could be called to appear before senators.

The IMSS is Mexico's Social Security Institute, and the discussions would take place as federal officials are being called to answer questions.

The meetings could bring attention to shortages and pay concerns affecting health services and workers.

Martínez did not give a date or confirm that either official would be called.
