MGM+ Orders The Black Tapes Series Starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

MGM+ has ordered an eight-episode horror series based on The Black Tapes, a podcast created by Terry Miles and Paul Bae.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau will star as Dr. Richard Strand, a psychiatrist with a mysterious past.

Strand and scientist Alex Regan investigate recordings linked to hauntings, possessions, disappearances and sinister legends.

The podcast has had more than 60 million downloads since it launched in 2015.

The investigation in the series leads to a hidden occult world and a centuries-old apocalyptic conspiracy, bringing the podcast’s supernatural mystery to television.

Filming is scheduled to begin in Vancouver in January 2027, and MGM+ plans to release the series in several countries, including the U.S. and UK.
