China indicts former Politburo member Ma Xingrui on bribery charges
China has indicted former Politburo member Ma Xingrui on bribery charges in a case now before a court in Yichang.
Prosecutors say Ma used positions in government and the state space contractor to help others and illegally accept money and other property.
His roles included senior posts at China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and leadership positions in Guangdong, including governor.
The alleged bribes were described as particularly large, but the charges have not been proven in court.
Ma was expelled from the Communist Party and removed from public office after an investigation announced earlier this year.
The case reflects China’s continuing campaign against official corruption, which has also involved other senior officials.
Yichang’s Intermediate People’s Court will hear the prosecution, though no trial date was given.
