Two cargo ships collide on the Maas near Den Bosch

Two cargo ships collided on the Maas near Den Bosch in the Netherlands on Saturday morning.

Dense fog was present when a container ship carrying about 90 containers struck the side of a smaller cargo ship.

The smaller ship, which may have been carrying dredged silt, suffered a dent about 1.5 metres long and damage to its cargo covers.

No one was reported injured, and the container ship had less damage.

The ships moved under their own power to a branch of the river and moored there, leaving the main shipping route clear.

Water police are investigating the cause of the collision.
