Jens Castrop returns after shoulder injury in Borussia Monchengladbach draw

Jens Castrop returned to competitive football after 86 days out with a shoulder injury.

The 23-year-old came on as a substitute for Borussia Monchengladbach against Paderborn in Germany's Bundesliga on October 31.

He had surgery after dislocating his right shoulder during a pre-season friendly in August.

Castrop was born in Germany to a German father and Korean mother, and chose to represent South Korea.

The match ended 0-0, leaving Monchengladbach 18th in the league with four points from eight games.

He can play as a wing-back or central midfielder, giving South Korea options in different positions.

Castrop missed South Korea's November squad, but could return to the national team if he earns regular playing time.

South Korea have the 2027 Asian Cup in January, and his progress at club level could help his chances of selection.
