Storm brings 116 km/h winds and damage to Kastamonu

A storm hit several districts of Kastamonu, a province on Turkey’s Black Sea coast.

Meteorologists had issued an orange warning, and winds reached 116 kilometres per hour in some places.

Falling trees and blown-off roofs caused damage, while power poles also fell in some villages.

In Cide, a fallen tree briefly closed the road to Bartın, but it reopened after crews removed the tree.

Rain carried muddy water into the Black Sea near Cide, turning the coastal water brown.

Emergency and utility crews are working to clear damage and repair power lines in affected areas.
