Eni will keep its fuel price cap in place until the end of 2026

Italy’s Eni will keep a cap on petrol and diesel prices through the end of 2026.

Chief executive Claudio Descalzi confirmed the extension on October 23.

The current maximum prices are €2.25 per litre for diesel and €1.99 for petrol.

The cap began in late September as a temporary measure, amid high fuel costs and concerns about reduced supplies of refined products.

Eni says it will review the limits as market prices and available supplies change.

The company says the measure is intended to help customers, though it also carries a significant cost for the business.
