Arthur Fils qualifies for ATP Finals, first French player since 2016

Arthur Fils has qualified for the ATP Finals in Turin, the season-ending tournament for the eight leading players.

The 22-year-old Frenchman secured his place on Wednesday when Frances Tiafoe lost to fellow French player Quentin Halys at the Paris Masters.

Fils is ranked seventh this week and will be the first French singles player at the Finals since Gaël Monfils in 2016.

His qualification follows a strong season, including his first Masters 1000 title in Cincinnati in August.

The Finals bring together the leading players of the season, and no French player has won the singles title.

The tournament is scheduled to run from November 15 to 22 in Turin, where Fils will compete against the other qualifiers; Jannik Sinner has withdrawn.

French doubles players Albano Olivetti and Théo Arribagé also qualified after winning their opening-round match at the Paris Masters.

Two of my close friends are still in the race in Arthur Fils and Frances Tiafoe, I would love to see those guys solidify their spot.
