Kendall Coyne Schofield to miss PWHL season while pregnant

Kendall Coyne Schofield is taking the PWHL season off because she is pregnant with her second child.

The 34-year-old is captain of the Minnesota Frost and a four-time U.S. Olympian.

She will also miss the women's world championship in Denmark, which opens next week, after practising with Team USA at camp in Michigan.

Coyne Schofield won Olympic gold at the Milan Cortina Games in February and has won the PWHL's Walter Cup twice with the Frost.

She has been one of the league's leading scorers, with 30 goals and 63 points in 77 PWHL games.

The Frost say they will support her and her family, and expect to welcome the newest member of the team next year.
