Police set up major checkpoints at two motorcycle club events in Konz
Police carried out two large traffic checks in Konz, Germany, on Saturday as two motorcycle-related events took place.
One event was hosted at a clubhouse in Könen, which is also the base of the Gremium MC’s Trier chapter; another was an opening party hosted by the Blood Bros in central Konz.
Police said the checks were intended to help ensure safety because the events were publicly advertised and linked to motorcycle groups.
The checks prompted criticism from some local people, who viewed the scale of the police response as excessive.
Police cited links between the events and motorcycle clubs, including the Gremium MC and the Blood Bros, whose online presence has included a claim by one chapter to support the Bandidos.
The clubs say they are not involved in criminal activity, and police said neither group had recently been linked to recorded crimes in the area.
Police reported a knife-related administrative case and a drug-law investigation during the checks, while saying the events passed without major incidents.
No further action or next steps were reported.
