Ripple Gets Final Approval for Federal Trust Bank

US regulators gave Ripple final approval for a national trust bank overseen by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

Ripple plans to use the bank to manage reserves backing RLUSD, its dollar-pegged stablecoin, and to offer digital-asset custody to corporate clients.

The bank had received conditional approval last December, and the final sign-off allows it to begin operating under federal supervision.

The charter directly supports RLUSD, not XRP, Ripple’s separate cryptocurrency.

About 61% of RLUSD is on Ethereum and 39% on the XRP Ledger, so activity on Ethereum does not generate XRP transaction fees.

XRP holders do not yet have a clear direct benefit from the bank’s approval.

That could change if the bank takes custody of institutional XRP holdings or more RLUSD is issued on the XRP Ledger, but what it will custody remains unclear.
