Hackers expose merchant login details and bank accounts on Daegu app

Daeguro, a public delivery app in Daegu, South Korea, was hacked on October 31.

The breach exposed system login IDs and passwords belonging to about 250 shop owners who use the app.

More than 25,000 bank account numbers were also exposed, including accounts linked to merchants who had closed their businesses.

The operator reported the incident to Daegu police on November 1 and South Korea’s internet security agency the next day, and later notified merchants.

No financial losses have been confirmed so far, but the operator is investigating how the information was taken.

Daegu city is working with the operator to assess the damage and prevent further harm.
