Apple Closes Above $5 Trillion Market Value for the First Time

Apple's market value closed above $5 trillion for the first time on Wednesday, reaching $5.005 trillion.

The iPhone maker is now the second company to close above that level, after Nvidia.

Apple shares ended at $342.96, a record closing price.

The company had crossed $5 trillion during trading six times before, but had not previously finished a day above it.

Nvidia still leads, with a market value of about $5.3 trillion.

The milestone came as the Nasdaq fell 1.88%, and Apple shares rose while the wider market was down.

Apple has spent less on artificial intelligence infrastructure than some other large technology companies, which have committed significant funds to building it.
