Gunmen kill at least six at funeral in Jordan church

Two gunmen opened fire during a funeral at a Greek Orthodox church in Karak, southern Jordan.

Authorities and news reports give different tolls: accounts say six or at least seven people were killed, while the number injured ranges from 10 to 28.

The attackers arrived by vehicle, fired at mourners and fled.

Security forces are investigating and searching for the gunmen, whose identities and motive have not been announced.

Karak has a sizeable Christian community in Muslim-majority Jordan, where such violence is rare.

No group has claimed responsibility, and Jordanian officials are expected to provide further information.
