Russian veterans’ fund receives more than 24,000 job requests
Russia’s Defenders of the Fatherland fund has received more than 24,000 requests for job help from veterans of the military operation.
Fund chair Anna Tsivileva said 57% of those seeking help have found work.
Some veterans are not ready to work because they need rehabilitation or time to recover their health.
Others are learning new skills or getting further education to change careers, including, in some cases, a second university degree at no cost.
The figures show that employment support is reaching many veterans, while others still need time or training before they can work.
From October 15, the nonprofit Dialog Regions is to handle requests from veterans and their families, working with the Defence Ministry’s Military Social Centre and the fund.
