Apple Adds Sound Glow to More HomePod Models
Apple's HomePod Software 27.2 adds Sound Glow to more speakers, including the second-generation HomePod and original HomePod mini.
Sound Glow was introduced with the HomePod mini 2, and makes the speaker's top light up in colors that pulse with music or other audio.
The colors are drawn from album artwork, and the feature can work with songs, podcasts and ambient music.
The original HomePod does not support Sound Glow, according to the software details.
The update is currently available as a release candidate for developers and public beta testers, and is expected to launch next week.
The software also adds HomePod surround sound support for Apple TV, along with options to use HomePods as a Mac's default speaker and to disable touch controls.
HomePod Software 27.2 adds Sound Glow to some existing HomePod models, extending a feature introduced with the HomePod mini 2.
Sound Glow makes the top of a compatible speaker pulse with colors in sync with music or other audio.
The update is available as a release candidate for developers and public beta testers, and MacRumors says it should launch next week.
The sources differ on whether the original HomePod supports Sound Glow.
The update also adds other features, including Mac default-speaker support and touch controls that can be disabled.
