Yunnan plans to expand digital links with South and Southeast Asia by 2030

Yunnan has issued a plan to expand digital cooperation with South and Southeast Asia through 2030.

The province in southwest China borders Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam and is near other countries in the region.

The plan aims to build stronger digital infrastructure and improve the movement and use of data across borders.

It proposes expanding international communications links, exploring international data centres and supporting cross-border data spaces for sectors such as transport, energy and tourism.

The plan also seeks shared rules for cross-border data and more cooperation on cybersecurity standards.

It includes digital trade and cultural projects, such as a regional centre for cultural data and film exchange activities.

Yunnan aims to have these measures producing clear results by 2030, including more active cross-border digital cooperation.
