Saudi Arabia Lifts Emergency Alerts in Yanbu and Sharurah

Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense issued three emergency alerts on Thursday for two areas.

One warning covered Yanbu, and two others were directed at people in Sharurah, in the southwestern Najran region.

Authorities later said the danger had passed and urged residents to follow instructions and avoid gathering or taking photos.

Officials did not identify the danger, leaving its cause unclear.

The alerts came amid ongoing conflict involving Yemen’s Houthi rebels, who have recently launched missile and drone attacks targeting parts of Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia has led a military coalition supporting Yemen’s government against the Houthis since 2015, and no further details about the alerts were given.
