Amir Khan backs fundraising campaign for Global Fighters’ Association
Former boxing world champion Amir Khan is backing a fundraiser for the Global Fighters’ Association, which he co-founded.
The group says it represents people across combat sports, including boxers and mixed martial arts fighters.
It was formed in October 2022 by former fighter Paul Smith and others, including Khan and former world champion Bernard Dunne.
The association says it will use the funds to support inquiries into problems across combat sports.
King’s Counsel lawyer Jonathan Caplan will lead a process combining a public inquiry with question-and-answer sessions similar to those of a UK parliamentary committee.
The process is intended to hear from people across the sport, including fighters, medical staff, officials, promoters and families, and produce reports based on their testimony.
