Gone Fishing returns with a farewell episode for dog Ted

Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse return for a ninth series of Gone Fishing on Sunday 25 October.

The BBC Two and iPlayer series follows the comedians on fishing trips around Britain, from Shetland to Hampshire.

The opening episode includes one last trip with Ted on the River Ribble in Lancashire.

Ted, who appeared in the show from its third series, died in April earlier this year.

The programme began after Mortimer developed heart problems and Whitehouse invited him fishing; it has since included candid conversations about their health and ageing.

Ted became a much-loved part of the show through his grumpy character and comic moments with the two hosts.

The new series will be available on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer from 9pm on Sunday 25 October.

The great thing about Ted, really, is he didn't give a monkey's about us, did he, Bob?

Bye bye Ted old friend. He wasn’t a dog, he was a species all of his own. He’s gone to the great briefcase emporium in the sky. We will really miss you mate.
