IMSS workers' march blocks major roads in Mexico City
Active and retired IMSS workers held a national march on Friday, with demonstrations confirmed in several parts of Mexico.
In Mexico City, the march included workers from the Mexican Social Security Institute's Centro Médico Siglo XXI.
Protesters blocked sections of Paseo de la Reforma and Eje Central, as well as roads including Viaducto Miguel Alemán.
The closures disrupted traffic, and authorities suggested alternative routes such as Avenida Insurgentes, Avenida Chapultepec and Calzada de Tlalpan.
Some roads that had been closed, including General Mariano Escobedo, later reopened.
The march was still moving along Eje Central in the latest update.
The available information does not say what the workers were demanding or what action may follow.

What people are saying
We are thinking very probably of keeping the route to the National Palace, despite the events around Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas and the offering. It is very likely that we will keep that route, or perhaps on the way we will be in contact with the other contingents and decide something else.
This day is not a day of celebration, it is a day of struggle and protest.
