Cheonan completes lighting project on Yu Gwan-sun Road

The city of Cheonan in South Korea has completed night-time lighting on Yu Gwan-sun Road, the entrance route to a historic site dedicated to independence activist Yu Gwan-sun.

The project aims to make the walkway safer and more convenient while reflecting the history of Yu Gwan-sun and the March First Movement.

That movement was a key part of Korea's independence struggle, and the road is described as a place with symbolic historical meaning.

New wall lights show the South Korean flag design and Yu Gwan-sun's image.

Other lights feature the mugunghwa, South Korea's national flower, and illuminate trees, sculptures and benches.

Cheonan says it will continue improving public spaces and walking access in ways that reflect the character of each place.
