Jamie Dornan says he will not try to outdo Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn

Jamie Dornan will play Aragorn in the upcoming film The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.

Viggo Mortensen played the character in the original trilogy, and Dornan said he feels pressure to follow Mortensen’s performance.

Dornan called Mortensen’s portrayal one of his favorites and said he is not trying to outdo him.

The new film is directed by Andy Serkis, who will also return as Gollum.

The story follows Aragorn’s search for Gollum before the creature can reveal the One Ring’s location to Sauron.

It is set before The Fellowship of the Ring and includes returning cast members Ian McKellen as Gandalf and Elijah Wood as Frodo.

The film is scheduled for release on December 17, 2027.
