Turkey extends transition period for sustainability audit qualifications
Turkey’s Public Oversight, Accounting and Auditing Standards Authority extended the transition period for sustainability audit authorisations by one year.
The authority’s decision was published in the Official Gazette.
The change applies to audits of accounting periods ending before 1 January 2028.
For those audits, some team members may be exempt from holding sustainability authorisation.
The exemption applies only if the lead auditor and at least two other auditors on the main team are authorised in sustainability.
This gives audit teams more time to meet the qualification requirements while keeping authorised auditors on the main team.
The decision does not state what rules will apply after the transition period.
